A power disruption affected your server
At 02:36 on Tuesday 28 May South African Standard Time, our Samrand data centre experienced a power disruption, with a number of customers affected. Power was restored by 05:35 but not all our servers managed to come back online. May you please check whether your server is now online and confirm?
Our Data Centre UPS infrastructure is fully redundant, allowing for a full electrical failover between the A- and B-feeds, should one of the feeds experience a fault. Switching power between the A- and B-feed is done through a Static Transfer Switch (STS).
A fault condition occurred on the A-feed UPS early this morning. Instead of switching to the B-feed, a secondary fault on the STS infrastructure meant that power was dropped entirely, resulting in a loss of service.
We are currently investigating the reason for both the UPS and STS infrastructure failure with our Data Centre as they do the same with the vendor technicians. We understand the impact this incident would have had to your business and would like to sincerely apologise.
